Preparing for Pentecost

As we received some much needed rain after a week of near-record setting heat, the kids and I created a few simple decorations to add to our table for this Sunday's celebration of Pentecost.

Skipper chose to make red flames made to look like candle flames to cut out to hang on our bay window in the dinette. Both boys helped make a Holy Spirit mobile like the one found here while we talked about the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, fear of the Lord).

On Sunday, we'll celebrate with a special dinner (more like late lunch as DH is flying out for business). Our menu will include:
  • roasted chicken
  • pasta alfredo
  • white corn
  • twelve fruit salad - arranged on a bed of lettuce
  • a Cake for Pentecost - I love this idea and I'm sure the kids will too!
